SELL STAFF HELD TEAM MEETING/RETREAT TO KICK STARTS THE YEAR

​Setting tone for success in the year 2024, SELL staff held team meeting/retreat to mark the start of the year. The event provided the team with the opportunity to come together to set goals for the year 2024. The retreat/meeting aimed to energize and rejuvenate the team fostering a positive working atmosphere with a shared vision.

​Some of the areas covered during the meeting/retreat include:  understanding Organization’s mission and vision, team building/relationship, skills and personal development, engaging with community, self reflection, planning and looking ahead among others.

During the meeting, the team encouraged one another to contribute their perspectives and insights for the growth and development of the Foundation.
​
The meeting concluded with staff having a sense of renewed motivation, enthusiasm and shared purpose.  The retreat/meeting which was help upon office resumption took place at the SELL Office in Bauchi.  

SELL PAID ADVOCACY VISIT TO NAPTIP, TSBS, NKPHRN IN JALINGO, TARABA STATE

The SELL Resource team alongside SELL Facilitators in Jalingo paid an advocacy visit to the National Agency for the prohibition of Trafficking in persons (NAPTIP), Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS), and Nigeria Keep Population Health and Rights Network (NKPHRN) in Jalingo, Taraba State.
 
The visit aimed to foster collaboration and support the fight against human trafficking in Taraba State.

The visit also served as a platform to promote SELL programs through the use of media and to explore potential areas for possible collaborations.
 
Speaking during the visit Mr Kennedy Maza appreciated the SELL team for the visit, and also applauded the efforts of SELL Foundation dedication towards building a peaceful community.
Mr Kennedy acknowledged the role SELL plays in raising awareness on the areas of peace building, climate and human rights.
 
He stated that the issue of trafficking in Taraba state is worrisome as the number is always on the rise. Mr Kennedy made a clarion call to the SELL team in Jalingo to always report suspicious case of trafficking so as to combat human trafficking within the state.
 
Speaking also, the Director Taraba State Broadcasting Services Mr David Nyah having heard what SELL has done and continue to do in Taraba State call on the team to involve the media in SELL activities so the program can reach out to wider audience.

​Mr Muhammad Sadisu Co-chair of Nigerian keep population health and rights network thanked the SELL team for the visit and also stated that the visit will serve as a reminder that collective effort is key to building a peaceful and resilient community.
 
Mr Muhammed on behalf of his team promised to collaborate with SELL in the area of advocating for peace and human rights in the state.
 
The advocacy took place on the 6th of February, 2024.

 
SELL CONDUCT TRAININGS IN BAUCHI, JALINGO

​Sharing Education and Learning for Life Foundation has once again conducted trainings in Bauchi State and Jalingo, Taraba State. The trainings which took place from the 8th to the 10th February, 2024 focused on the following thematic areas: Policy Influence and implementation, Child Safeguarding and protection and production of briquettes.

The trainings aimed to empower participants with skills on Child safeguarding, production of briquette which will serve as alternative source of cooking and to also enhance their capacity and participation in policy influence in their respective communities.

As part of our commitment towards creating a safe and sustainable environment, SELL also distributed tree seedlings, solar lanterns, waste bins to SELL beneficiaries, individuals, private/public institutions during the trainings in Bauchi and Jalingo respectively.
​
Similarly, some selected SELL facilitators were given small ruminants animals that will serve as a means of livelihood.

 The training brought together participants from different youth/women groups, Religious groups, civil society organizations and other relevant institutions.

WOMEN RAISED CONCERNS DURING THE CHILD SAFEGUARDING TRAINING IN JALINGO, BAUCHI

​Some group of women that participated in the child safeguarding training conducted by SELL Foundation Nigeria in Bauchi State and Jalingo, Taraba State raised concerns about the welfare of children and young people in the states.

​The training which aimed at providing women with skills on safeguarding spark up critical discussions concerning the welfare of the children and that of young people especially those whose have been found committing all kinds of crimes in the community.

During the training, the women challenged themselves and also shared their experiences and observations on how to enhance the welfare of the child. The women in Jalingo also lamented that most times meetings are held and they are not represented, as result of that, they also call on one of the Youth executive of that area who happens to be at the training to always involve them during the meetings so that such avenues can be use to talk to one another.

​The trainings took place on the 10th February, 2024 at SELL Foundation office in Bauchi and in St Peters Jalingo.

SANITATION AND SENSITIZATION ON CHILD REGISTRATION ETC FOR UNGUWAN KADAWA, GIREI LOCAL GOVERNMENT ARE, ADAMAWA STATE ON 10TH FEBRUARY,2024
​

​A Community Based Organization known as Mercy Initiative for Rural and Social Development (MIRAS-D) in Collaboration with SELL team in Yola carried out sensitization/sanitation at Unguwan Kadawa ward of Girei Local Government in Adamawa State.
 
This became necessary due to the deplorable and hazardous nature of the environment prompted by the presence of refuse littered everywhere and produced a very bad smell and seen as capable of affecting the health of the residents in the area.

Moses Bakari who is a facilitator of the SELL programme led the facilitation where they engaged with members of the community on the need to keep clean, the effects of refuse littering and defecation on the atmosphere, the need for the use of nose mask etc.
 
The youths and children came out in their numbers and in togetherness, the said activity was carried out amidst musical interlude which helped in making the work easy. Amidst the event, he also spoke about the need to register children who have not been registered especially those aged 0-5 years and the importance of foundational education.

TAFAWA BALEWA SELL COMMUNITY CONDUCTED LEARDERSHIP WORKSHOP
​

The SELL facilitators in Tafawa Balewa community Bauchi State conducted a leadership workshop to all the Young Catholic students of Nigeria (YCSN) in Tafawa Balewa of Bauchi State Nigeria.
The workshop which took place at the Presentation Brothers school in Tafawa Balewa aimed to equip the students especially the school prefects with the necessary skills on leadership. The workshop had in attendance sixteen schools in attendance including their patron and matrons. It took place on the 16th -17th February, 2024
