On March 6th, the YDU facilitated a hands-on briquette-making exercise with our Tailoring and Fashion Designing students. International Women's Day: A Celebration of EmpowermentOn March 8th, in celebration of International Women’s Day, the YDU led an inspiring commemoration at Ungweru Organisation. The event, which involved students from the Tailoring and ICT departments, celebrated remarkable women from Malawi and around the world. The occasion was marked by heartfelt prayers, powerful poems, and uplifting songs, underscoring the importance of women’s contributions to society.
Wisdom of Traditions: Strengthening Community ConnectionsFrom March 14th to 16th, we conducted the Wisdom of Traditions unit step-down workshops across Chilambwe, Chintheche, and Mwaya in the Anglican community of Nkhata-Bay. These workshops serve as a vital platform for local youth to engage in meaningful discussions about preserving and applying traditional wisdom, helping to bridge generational knowledge gaps within these communities.

On March 18th, the YDU team had the honor of hosting visitors from a local mushroom farm. The discussion focused on how our "Care for the Earth" unit aligns with their climate-smart agricultural practices. This meeting opened the door for potential collaboration aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

On March 21st, YDU, along with the entire Ungweru Team, participated in a thorough clean-up drive, extending from our premises to the Tahnet Fueling Station. The initiative collected both plastic and compostable waste, contributing to a cleaner community and sustainable garden projects at Ungweru. This drive, which normally takes place on the second Friday of each month, emphasizes our commitment to environmental stewardship.

Justice Unit Workshops: Empowering Local CommunitiesFrom March 28th to 30th, the YDU conducted Justice unit step-down workshops in the Mzimba and Nkhamenya Catholic communities. These workshops were pivotal in empowering participants who have engaged with 4 to 6 units of the programme, culminating in the presentation of certificates for their hard work and dedication to justice.
