SELL Nigeria: WORKSHOP IN THE SELL TRADITIONAL UNITS OF THE SELL PROGRAMME

The SELL traditional units of the SELL programmes continue to make positive impacts in the lives of young people in the North East and Plateau State. SELL volunteers and SELL Resource team continue to step down workshops for groups in these thematic areas.

On the 19th to 20th February, 2024 SELL Resource team facilitated a workshop on Community Building of the SELL traditional unit and Child Safeguarding/protection for Aspirant from the congregation of Sons of Divine Love, (SDL) in Bauchi State.


The workshop which took place at the SELL Office aimed at empowering the participants with the skills on building a healthy community, fostering community development and protection of children.


The two days workshop provided them with the opportunity to explore different sessions of the community building and Child safeguarding units which includes:
  • Understanding Community dynamics and relationships
  • Exploring perspectives
  • Team work and collaboration
  • What is safeguarding/protection
  • Forms of abuse
  • Channel of reporting

On the 15th February, 2025 Jalingo SELL facilitators also conducted a peace building workshop for Vigilante group. This workshop came up due to the lingering Communal crisis between the Youths of Nassarawo (Ruby Settlement), Nyabunkaka and Unguwan Fulani Communities, the Jalingo Community saw the need to conduct refresher training for the Officers and Men of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) on Peace Building.

The workshop aimed at restoring peace to the community and also helped the Vigilante group strategies on detecting Early Warning signs and Response mechanism in order to beef up security measures in the area.


Areas explored during the workshop also include; community engagement on peaceful coexistence, improvement on respect for human rights, promotion of democratic development, conflict resolution and reconciliation techniques among others.

Testimonial: The representative of the Jalingo Local Government Commander who appreciated the SELL volunteers on behalf of the Officers stated that the workshop was a timely intervention which he said has improved the capacity of his Men in peace building and handling conflicts in their various communities.


On the 17th of February, 2024 the SELL volunteers I Gombe Community facilitated a workshop for the Excos of National Association of Agricultural Students Federal University of Kashere, Gombe State.

The workshop which was on leadership unit aimed at enhancing the leadership skills of excos, sessions explored during the workshop was pass the message, leadership styles, reflection on power among others.
