SELL RESOURCE TEAM RESUMES WITH NEW ENERGY

9/12/2017

Hello Friends!!! It’s been a while. We trust that you are fine and all is well in your life. We went on a short break to renew our energy for the work that lies ahead in the second half of the year and we are happy to be back.
In July, the Resource Team took some teachers from six (6) Senior High Schools through training on the Life Choice Day Programme, an auxiliary programme under the SELL, designed for High School students.  The programme is designed to help students look at and reflect on the important steps on their life’s journey. The teachers were equipped with knowledge, skills and materials to help support their students in taking time to reflect on their choices. Teachers in their evaluations expressed their appreciation to the team for designing such a programme for the student. They shared that the programme will make a positive impact on their students as they found it very helpful for themselves as teachers. They gave some suggestions to team on how they believe the programme could be developed to reach many students in the schools.
From August 24th – 27th, the Resource team was in Tamale to continue with the training of the 47 volunteers in the Tamale Zone who went through the first training on Self–Awareness in January. This time, the focus of the training was on the Leadership Unit of the SELL Programme. It was heartwarming to see the young adult sharing their experience on the field with one another and listening to how the experience has shaped them as individuals. Time was given for the review of the field work; volunteers congratulated one another for the success on the field. The challenges encountered were looked at and the group brought out ideas on the way forward. The volunteers were excited to be present for the second training and ready to go back to support their peers.
The Leadership Unit of the Programme aims at helping participants to understand the need for good communication in our lives as leaders, to look at how our experience of people in authority affect our ability to be effective leaders, to identify our own leadership style and to recognize the role of leaders in caring for the earth as well as issues on sexuality and relationships.
To help build the capacity of the volunteers as facilitators, they were taking through session that looked at building one’s self esteem, celebrating one’s success, body language and many more.  It was a success and we appreciate the commitment of our volunteers and the support of our benefactors. God bless you all.
As we celebrate the success of the Tamale Zone Training, we look forward to the Navrongo/Bolgatanga Zone Training scheduled for 14th – 17th September, 2017. We hope it will be a success too. We will keep you informed as always.
Blessings.
SELL RESOURCE TEAM, GHANA.
