The first point of call was at Kirikiri Community from the 17th to 20th September, 2015, where the team explored the Leadership unit of the programme with the Youth. Highlight of the programme was the ability of the youth to identify their leadership skills and the leaders that have inspired them in their lives. 36 participants were present at the programme.
After the programme at Kirikiri, the team moved to Amukoko from 21st to 25th September 2015, a large number of youth where anxiously waiting for the team, sessions where run in the evenings. The workshop had 74 youth who were consistent out of the 97 from the first day. Self Awareness and Leadership units were shared with them. At the end of the workshop, they expressed how they now know that they are leaders in their own rights. Many talked about how they can work towards developing their God-giving talents irrespective of the challenges they faced in their daily lives.
We give credence to the priests of Saint Patrick’s Missionary Society for their tireless efforts towards planning and logistics which enabled the success of the programme. From what I also gathered, the young people are anticipating our next visit, they requested that the programme be extended to more Youths from other Parts of Lagos State, Nigeria. We at the SELL Team are looking forward for that possibility.
In our next blog, you will read the story of the Facilitators training of Jos and Bauchi Community teams.
See you again soon.
