Yesterday being Thursday 19th May 2011, Bauchi metropolis, Bauchi state Nigeria witness a large turnout of people most especially Catholics who came for the Episcopal Installation and Ordination of the new Bishop of Bauchi Diocese. Members of the Sharing Education and Learning for Life SELL Team were present at the occasion. The newly installed Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Malachy John Goltok, having received his staff of office was very happy and thanked God for finding him worthy to be the chief shepherd of the clergy, religious and laity of the Catholics and indeed people of Bauchi.

Still on the 19th May 2011, Leo a member of the SELL Resource Team, celebrated his 50th birthday. There was a lot of merry making as friends came around to congratulate and celebrate with him. We on SELL Team are wishing him long life and many happy returns.

Last week, I informed you that Jonathan and Mary of the SELL Resource Team will be travelling to Numan in Adamawa state, Nigeria to mentor the Yola SELL Team in the Spirituality Unit workshop of the SELL programme. The duo travel on Friday 13th May 2011 and met with members of the yola Team at Numan Town that evening. They workshop continued on Saturday morning and they had 27 participants who registered and took part in the workshop. The workshop ended same Saturday in the evening after which the mentors and mentees sat down for a while and evaluated the workshop. On Sunday morning Mary and Jonathan took off to Bauchi and had a safe journey back.

Moses one of the SELL Resource Team members, on Monday 16th May 2011 went to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, to attend a programme on project Cycle Management and Proposal Development. The programme will end on Friday 20th May 2011.

Fr. Tommy Hayden of the St. Patrick’s Missionary Society has being at our office the Youth Formation Centre since last week. Tommy is a Resource person to the SELL Programme, he came to Bauchi for the Bishops installation among other activities, while in Bauchi Tommy, gave Leo and I had a mini seminar on Child Protection Policy. I, being the person responsible for child protection on the SELL Team had many questions to ask Tommy after his presentation and he gave me the needed attention. Some of the questions were from the experiences we had while working with teenage young adults. The Child Protection Policy is a new policy that helps in protecting  vulnerable children from child abuse.

Thank you for being with us on this blog you can send us your comments  on our email sellfoundation@gmail.com  See you next week.
