THE SELL TEAM MEETS WITH THE STAKEHOLDERS OF THE SELL PROGRAMME

4/2/2011

In the Sharing Education and Learning for Life Programme, we have a plan of activities which usually guide the workshops and other activities that we carryout in the course of the year. Most of these activities and workshops have been very successful. Sometimes, some are not so successful and may have to be cancelled due to logistics problem.  This was the case last weekend where the mentoring workshop scheduled for Biliri community in Gombe State Nigeria did not hold because the facilitators in training and the group we intended to work with had other personal commitments which coincided with the SELL Workshop. However, the workshop has been rescheduled for another date and we hope it will work then.

As part of our strategy of carrying the people along and been accountable to the stakeholders of the Programme, we met with the Youth Chaplains and stakeholders of the Programme at the Youth Formation Centre in Bauchi on Wednesday the 30th of March 2011. It was my first time participating in this meeting as a member of the SELL Team. I really appreciate the idea behind such a meeting and the manner in which all the stakeholders participated in it, in sharing their views and ideas and bringing forward strategies for sustaining the programme into the future. The next meeting has been scheduled for October this year. I look forward to it.

The general elections in Nigeria are holding between the 2nd to the 23rd of April 2011. Given the need for all of us to exercise our franchise and the tension that often trail such elections in Nigeria, the SELL Team will be on partial service for this period as a result of this. This time though will be used by the team to work on themes and workshop processes for the deepening unit of the SELL Programme.

I like to use this medium to encourage all young Nigerians to go out and vote. Like we always emphasize in the SELL Programme our vote is one tool we can use to bring about Social Change. I wish everyone safety in this period and pray for peace for our country Nigeria.

Looking forward to sharing more with you on our blog when we come back from the elections.
