The beginning of a New Year for many is a time of introspection and reflection over what happened in the previous Year, and facing the reality that the New Year is here with us, more like stock taking. SELL Foundation is not an exemption when it comes to this reality of stock taking. Our office resumed on the 6th January, 2016. Upon resumption, the Resource team held series of meetings as a result of structural adjustment the organization witnessed recently. Part of the process was the Group Life Check-in. This was intended to assess achievements, challenges and lessons learnt in the previous year so as to assist us in determining future options and strategies to serve you better while at the same time attain the vision and mission of SELL Programme. The process of Group Life Check-in was coordinated by Mary James for the SELL Resource Team.

To be fully prepared for the task ahead, re-orientation of SELL Supporting Staff (Security Men) was done on Security Tips and Human Relations in order to help them carryout their work efficiently and judiciously. The supporting staff expressed satisfaction over the input they received and request that, such inputs be done regularly. This exercise was indeed first of its kind.
Just as every New Year comes with new hopes, uncertainties, fears and dreams, we at SELL Foundation have braced ourselves for the task ahead of us with hope and assurance the year 2016 is surely our year. Furthermore, with a renewed determination on the part of resource team members to pursue the new hopes and uncertainties and to keep our vision and mission alive, the SELL Foundation has introduced some new programmes for the year.

Below is the 2016 Programme of our activities and we invite you all to participate in any one that is taking place within your reach. We count on your usual cooperation and Support. Keep alive our vision and mission!

THE SELL PROGRAMME REACHES THE SOUTH EAST NIGERIA

1/10/2016

If you read our last blog, you must have seen today's caption. Yes, SELL reaches the South East of Nigeria. Emmanuel Achi, a SELL trainee of the Jalingo team who was displaced from Taraba State as a result of the communal clashes created this contact for SELL. Emmanuel is always seen as a very passionate guy when it comes to matters of young people; ranging from engaging himself in youth participation programmes like SELL. Since Emmanuel left the North East Nigeria to Enugu, in the South East, he has kept contact with the Resource team and the SELL Jalingo team. To reinstate his commitment to youth formation, he travels from Enugu to Jalingo and back to attend the SELL Facilitators training that he had started before his relocation.
While in Enugu, he spoke to various groups about SELL and one of the groups called him to say they would want to experience the Programme. He then spoke to the resource team and his former team in Jalingo for support to run the programme; he needed one more person to join him do it. Victor Kamai the Jalingo team leader traveled to support him. Victor said he had to take the burden to travel because of Emmanuel's commitment to SELL while he was at Jalingo.
The Beneficiaries of the SELL Programme at Enugu were the students of Alpha Secondary School, Awgu in Enugu.

As it is with most groups; the first experience of the SELL Programme gives you a thrill that will make one always quest for more. Alpha Secondary school was not an exception to that; the school management requested that SELL becomes an annual event for them.
The component of the programme that was shared in the school was the 'Life Choice Retreat' and the total number of participants was 38.

Thanks for staying with us this time.

SELL CELEBRATES THE OUT-GOING RESOURCE TEAM MEMBERS

1/10/2016

We at the SELL Resource Team, give glory to God for his providence over our lives and work. The year 2015 has come and gone, leaving us with many reasons to celebrate and be grateful. This is not without the unflinching support from all our beloved benefactors, partners, youth chaplains, volunteers, facilitators, and our dear friends of SELL fraternity. To crown it all, on 16th December 2015, an end of the year celebration was organized by the SELL Resource Team to recognize the valuable contributions of the out-going resource team members; Mr. Moses Alokpa, Mrs. Maria Dagogot and Miss. Berlyn Boniface.

During their time with SELL, the trio worked tirelessly in contributing to the realization of the Vision of the organization. SELL celebrates them for this tremendous contribution! We thank them for the services rendered to SELL Foundation and we wish them all the best in other endeavors of life. It is often said that ‘Change is the only permanent thing’ just that with that comes challenge of letting go. Undoubtedly, we feel the vacuum left by them. It is quite challenging for us to come to terms with the reality of their absence here. It is not easy for the three of us remaining in the office. It is challenging to move on and embrace the extra responsibilities they left for us; this means more work on our desks. On the other hand, we are gladdened by the fact that their exit is not an end rather an entrance into new grounds and opportunities of life. As they seek new endeavors elsewhere, the SELL Foundation looks forward to reconnecting with our great ambassadors as they continue to live and support SELL’s vision outside the confines of our offices. The good news is that they’ll still be part and parcel of SELL Family and their input and wealth of experience will always be resourced by us left in the office. In a special way, we congratulate Mr. Moses Alokpa (former Director/Team Leader) who has graciously accepted to continue shaping the future of SELL as a full member of the Board of Trustees. We look forward to working with him and wish him all the best in this new endeavor.
In attendance at the Send-forth party was the Administrator of Catholic Diocese of Bauchi Very Rev. Fr. John Keane SMA and Rev. Fr. Andrew Batare, the Chancellor of Bauchi Diocese who graced the occasion with a delegation of Eight Diocesan priests plus the 4 priest of St. Patrick’s Missionary Society working in missions in Bauchi, and SELL Community Leaders from all the North-East and Plateau States (All of them drawn from the 7 Catholic Diocese of Jos Ecclesiastical Province). Features of the event were Keynotes addresses given by some of the dignitaries and the out-going director (Mr. Moses). Needless to mention but few, Mr. Moses Alokpa and Fr. Patrick Esekon, thanked all present for their commitments towards upholding the vision of SELL and encouraged them to support SELL Foundation to realize her vision and mission. On the same vein, Mr. Victor Kamai, representing the Board of Trustees joined in thanking the invited guests and the out-going resource team members. Other programmes of the events were cutting of Send-forth cake.  In his closing remarks, Very. Rev Fr. John Keane expressed the commitment and support of the Diocese towards the activities of the SELL Foundation throughout the Diocese which covers in Bauchi and Gombe State. It was indeed a worthwhile event to mark the end of the year 2015 as well as acknowledging the invaluable contributions made by the out-going resource team members. We appreciate all that made it a success.
Lastly, we take this opportunity to register our sincere thanks to you all who contributed towards the success of the activities of SELL Foundation in 2015, you gave us a course to celebrate and we celebrate you all. We continue to count on your continual support as we begin the year 2016 with lots of plans to implement. With your cooperation SELL will consolidate her effort of offering on-going support to the formation of Young adults as agents of change in Nigeria and Ghana.
