We bring you warm regards from the Resource Room in this episode of our monthly updates. It’s a pleasurable opportunity for us to share with you and we trust you have been looking forward to reading from us.
Continuing with the work in the field, the Team was at Bongo community in the Navrongo-Bolgatanga zone for a workshop on the Peace Building Unit from the 4th to the 6th of the month. A total of 31 young people were reached through that encounter.
As we stated in our previous updates regarding the Counseling Training workshop, on the second weekend of the month, the Team together with the Volunteers who were privileged to be at the first training returned to Kumasi for the second phase of the Counseling Training at the Spiritual Renewal Centre. From the 11th to the 13th participants were taken through practical aspects of Counseling and other relevant counseling skills. Ethics of counseling and referrals were given special attention given that participants are not experts in the discipline.
Rev. Fr. Peter Laast, the facilitator of the training, advised trainees to put to use the knowledge and skills gained in their various fields of work while at the same time staying within their limits.
On the 13th of May the Resource Team and the Link Brother had the rare opportunity to meet his Lordship Most Reverend Peter Akwasi Sarpong, the Archbishop Emeritus of Kumasi Archdiocese. The purpose of the deliberation was to get his insights on inculturation. It was such a beautiful encounter as he took his time to explain certain elements to consider in inculturation. The Team is looking forward to another opportunity to learn more from him.
From the 18th to the 20th of the month the Team was out for mentoring in the field in the Tamale zone at Kpandai community. It was a long journey, but the encounter was worth the effort as the young people expressed their gratitude to the Team of Facilitators for providing them with the opportunity to explore the Peace Building Unit as it will help them build and promote peace in their communities.
The Team organized a retreat for the final year pupils of the Presentation Junior High School on the 23rd and 24th of the month. The retreat served as an opportunity for pupils to reflect on their lives and commit themselves and their studies to God as they prepare for their Basic Education Certificate Examination.
To climax the activities in the field for the month, from the 25th to the 27th of the month the Team were at three communities for workshops on the Peace Building Unit of the programme. That is, Zebilla, Garu and Bunkpurugu communities – all in the Navrongo-Bolgatanga zone. A total of 61 young adults were reached on that weekend.
The Team is pleased to have reached a total of 132 young people in the month of May through the workshops. We therefore owe our Volunteers, benefactors and all who support us in diverse ways a great debt of appreciation. Hence, we pray God’s blessings upon all we encountered in May and asks His continuous blessings on the work ahead.
So until we come your way with subsequent updates, please stay tuned; stay blessed!
