SELL TRAINED VOLUNTEERS/WOMEN ON POLICIES AFFECTING SAFEGUARDING AND GENDER BASED VIOLENCE, ALTERNATIVE SOURCE OF COOKING, ANIMAL REARING/CROP PRODUCTION IN ADAMAWA, SHENDAM PLATEAU STATE

In a bid to create awareness and educate the people on the laws and policies affecting child safeguarding and prevention of gender based violence (GBV) in the above mentioned states,   SELL Foundation Nigeria conducted a two days training on the above mentioned thematic areas to educate the people on the  child right law in Plateau, Adamawa and  Nigeria at large.

Similarly, the team trained its volunteers and selected women on Animal rearing/Crop production and the production of briquette as a means of alternative source of cooking and economic empowerment.

The training which lasted for two days aimed at creating awareness on the already existing laws/policies in Adamawa and plateau States that addresses child protection and prevention of gender based violence as well as provides the women and SELL volunteers with the skills on alternative cooking energy and a means of livelihood. The training brought together participants from different Wards, Security/Government Agencies and relevant institutions including SELL volunteers.

The training in Shendam took place on the 28th -29th April, 2023 at Catechetical training Institute (CTI), Shendam Local Government Area. While that of Adamawa took place on the 11th -12th May, 2023 at Bishop Patrick Sheehan Pastoral Centre, Yola.

The climax of the training is setting up the child safeguarding committee by the participants where they will explore avenues for greater collaboration between relevant stakeholders towards the creation of safer space for children and the vulnerable.

SELL EMPOWERS VOLUNTEERS, DISTRIBUTES SOLAR LAMPS, TREES, WASTE BINS/LIVESTOCK IN SHENDAM LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, ADAMAWA, BORNO STATES

As a way of empowering SELL volunteers and promoting care for the environment, SELL Foundation Nigeria through the support of its donors supported selected SELL volunteers in Shendam, Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States with small ruminant animals (Goats) as a means of helping to improve and promote their economic growth which will also serve as a means of livelihood.

Correspondingly, In line with our efforts to maintain a safe environment for all, SELL distributed some economic trees, waste bins and solar lamps to selected SELL beneficiaries, Institutions, Schools, Security and religious bodies in the above mentioned areas (States).

SELL CONDUCTS LAW REVIEWS, TRAINING ON PRODUCTION OF BRIQUET/ANIMAL REARING IN MAIDUGURI

​SELL Foundation Nigeria conducted a three days review on laws and policies affecting safeguarding and violence against persons prohibition as well as trained its volunteers and selected women on Animal rearing/production and production of briquet in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The review was to check with the SELL team, groups and relevant institutions on the progress of the laws and policies in Borno and Yobe States respectively.
The training took place at St. Hillary’s Hall, Polo, Maiduguri from the 27th -29th April, 2023

SELL DONATES EDUCATIONAL, SPORT ITEMS TO JABI LAMBA CAMP, ADAMAWA STATE
SELL Foundation Nigeria through the support of its donor donated some Educational and sports equipment to the Internal Displaced persons at Jabi Lamba Camp, Song Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The donation also includes footballs, volleyballs, basketballs, six different pairs of jerseys, Ludo, Skipping ropes, draft, books among others which aim to encourage children’s right to play as well as promote mental wellbeing and  social cohesion among the displaced persons  in the camp and the host community.

During the presentation, Mr. Beji Jibe leader of the delegation appreciated the Catholic Bishop of Yola Most Rev Stephen Dami Manza, The JDPC coordinator Rev Fr Maurice Kwairanga and other staff of the camps for the opportunity given to SELL to work with the internal displaced persons. 
In his remarks, Beji reiterated that the Educational/sporting items were made to encourage children’s right to play, self-care and promote social cohesion.
Edmond Garga the camp manager on behalf of the beneficiaries received with gratitude and enthusiasm and promised that the items which came as a sign of hope and solidarity will be used judiciously.
