September is our month in SELL, we celebrate this month because so many events took place, indeed it is a month to remember, and part of the things that happened in September that you have not read about on the blog is the SELL training for the Jos Community. Like I shared in the last blog, apart from the Jos training, you will also read about the SELL workshops that held in Lagos state, Nigeria.  Another event is capacity building for the SELL Resource Team. Follow the pointers below to read the details.
  • Members of the SELL Community in Jos converged at the Youth Formation Centre in Bauchi to continue with facilitators training. The training held on the 15th – 17th September, 2015 and seven members of the Jos team were in attendance. Members of the resource team who anchored the training were Maria Dagogot and Moses Alokpa.  Knowing so well that Peace building is a critical need in our community today due to incessant violent experiences, the Peace building unit of the SELL programme was explored with the trainees. They participated effectively and derived a lot of learning from the sessions of the unit. They made very positive statements on sessions on the problem tree as a tool for conflict analysis, skills for effective anger management among others.
  • Another event of SELL that took place recently, precisely on 26th September, 2015 was the workshop for the Leaders and Facilitators of the Small Christian Community (SCC) of All Saints Catholic Church, Wuntin Dada, Bauchi. The aim of the programme was to equip the participants with the necessary leadership skills to be effective in their roles. Moses Alokpa and John Jiddere facilitated the programme and recorded 22 participants (5 female and 17 male).

  • On the 28th and 29th September, the SELL Resource Team where engaged in a Capacity Building activity. The facilitator of the programme was Michael Osei Nkrumah, a Mentor of Misean Cara to West Africa. The Capacity building was on Proposal writing using the Logical Frame-work Approach (LFA). If you thought you knew much already on proposal writing, I bet you, you will still have a lot to carry home from that training. Thanks to Mike for building our capacity and to Misean Cara for their continuous support.

  • Two workshops also took place in Lagos State, South West, Nigeria at Kiri-Kiri  and Amukoko  areas. A report on this come will come your way next week.
