The SELL Resource Team members after the 3rd Provincial training of facilitators in September 2011 in Jos, Plateau State Nigeria, have in full swing begun to tour round the North East region of Nigeria and Plateau State. The tour is to mentor the trainees in the workshop with young adults of their areas. So far only SELL facilitators from Yola, Adamawa state Nigeria have been mentored since after the training and if you go through our most previous blog update, you will see the update on that workshop and mentoring. Even though, a workshop would have held in Maiduguri, Borno state Nigeria, which would have been facilitated by the SELL team in Maiduguri and mentored by Leo of the resource team but, because of the recent attack by the Boko Haram sect it was cancelled. We hope the workshop will happen in a later date.

The General Superior of the St. Patrick’s Missionary Society (SPMS) worldwide Fr. Seamus O’ Neill came to visit Nigeria from kiltegan, Ireland. He did not come without a purpose but to visit the St. Patrick’s Priests (SPS) in their various missions in the country. On Tuesday 8th November 2011, from Miya Town in Bauchi state where he went to visit 2 SPS Priests he came to the Youth Formation Centre where the SELL Programme runs from. Fr. Leo Traynor an SPS Priest and also a SELL Resource team member introduced Fr. Seamus to the compound and to the members of the team. The team had a meeting with him and introduced the SELL Programme and the various roles of members of the team. All SELL team members were thankful to SPMS for being the pillar and support of the programme. Fr. Seamus responded by saying that the programme will continue to have the support of SPMS.

Mallam Shuaibu one of the SELL facilitators’ trainee who is also a Muslim ally of the SELL Programme will together with Jonathan a member of the SELL Resource Team travel to Kaduna town in Nigeria to attend and facilitate part of a one day consultative seminar on Youth and Peaceful Coexistence. The consultative seminar is being organised by Interfaith Council of Muslim and Christian women’s Associations. The aim of the seminar is; ‘to bring together the youth leaders from our faith communities/groups to discuss the need for Muslim and Christian youth to work together to build peace in our society and to consult them on how this might best be done’. Venue of the seminar is at Tafawa Balewa Guest House Kaduna.

This weekend being the 12th -14th November 2011, the SELL Team from Shendam Local Government of Plateau State Nigeria, will be delivering a Community Building workshop of the SELL Programme. Though the Shendam Team will be delivering the workshop, it is going to be at Kwande town of Qua’an Pan Local Government of Plateau State. The facilitators of the workshop are Dajan, Kate, Fidelis and Victus. A member of the SELL Resource Team and a support staff of the Team Moses and James respectively will mentor the facilitators in the workshop.

One of the SELL trainees and the Youth Chaplain from Yola  Fr. Charles Danboyi is a year older today, the SELL family are wishing him God’s blessings on this unique day of Friday 11:11:11.

Workshops that are forthcoming in the weekend of 18th -20th November 2011 are in Minna, Niger state and Jalingo, Taraba State, Nigeria. Details of these workshops will be brought to you in our next week’s update. Enjoy our photos from the facilitator’s network training that took place in Jos last week. Have a nice weekend.
