Furthermore, Beji our team leader was on a relationship building visit to the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) Jos Ecclesiastical Province at her first Provincial meeting which took place in Jalingo on the 22nd to 23rd January 2016. According to Beji, the chaplains and the youth leaders reiterated their support for the SELL programme in the province. They equally expressed appreciation to the Foundation for the capacity building the youth have benefited from SELL programme. Still in the spirit of Partnership, a collaborative meeting with a team of four officials from the Industrial Trust Fund (ITF) held on the 28th January 2016, at Youth Formation Centre. This meeting was intended to draw terms of reference between ITF and SELL Foundation on areas of support and collaboration in order to contribute to sustainable development through building Peaceful Communities, promoting access to Justice and self reliance for young Adults of the North- East Nigeria.
On the same note, SELL met with one of her key stakeholders. They are the Chaplains of Youth groups in Catholic Ecclesiastical Province of Jos. The Chaplains’ meeting held on the 1st to 2nd February 2016 at the Youth Formation Centre in Bauchi Metropolis. It was a meeting of re-building relationship and interaction with Key stakeholders that support SELL Programme in North-East Nigeria. This was done in order to seek their support towards the future Sustainability of SELL in Nigeria.
Despite the advocacy visits and meetings, SELL furthered her course of reaching out to Young Adults through workshops and this was evident in the last weekend’s workshop at Tafawa Balewa which marked the end of the month activity at SELL Foundation. The Last weekend of January 2016 was a remarkable one in the history of SELL Foundation as 9 different Schools experienced Leadership Unit of SELL Programme. The Programme was a 2 days Workshop (29th-30th), organized by the SELL Volunteers in Tafawa Balewa L.G.A, Bauchi State in collaboration with the SELL Resource Team. The workshop featured Identification of Leadership Styles, Foundation skills in Leadership, Qualities of a Leader, Reflection on Power, Authority and Leadership, Sexuality among others. The participants were very engaging and they requested during closing of the event that are yearning for more opportunity of engaging them. It recorded 54 participants who were delegates from the 9 different Schools. Other supporters at the Workshop were Fr. Chongwanda Irmiya and Bro. James (PBSS). The Resource Team members were Fr. Patrick Esekon and Mary James. We thank St. Mary's Tafawa Balewa, Catholic Parish who played a host to the Students and the SELL Team.
Thanks for Staying with us on this page.
