The Sharing Education and Learning for Life (SELL) Community Team in Shendam, Plateau State, Nigeria, had a workshop on the Community Building Unit of the SELL Programme. The workshop held on the 21st – 22nd February, 2014 at Saminaka, Shendam. The Facilitators at the workshop were Dajan, Paul, Norbert and Barnabas. The recorded 22 participants 9 of whom were ladies.

The SELL Programme at Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, South- South Nigeria took place and it was successful. Mary and Beji both members of the Resource Team co-facilitated the programme. Two of the six units of SELL were explored; Self Awareness and Leadership units. For the number of days that the programme was delivered, 23rd – 28th February, 2014, the work was done in the evenings; from 4pm to 8pm. According to Mary and Beji, they had 28 consistent participant; 9 ladies and 19 gents. Going to Yenagoa was a new experience for the facilitators; they share that it was a different weather from what they are used to and the food was also a bit different. They adopted to all these changes quickly because the people were friendly to them. From the Participants evaluation, they are asking that the team to return to Yenagoa again soon to share the other units of the programme with. Their request is being strengthened by the frequent calls we received from them since the team returned to our work place in Bauchi. We thank Fr. Kevin O’Hara for inviting us to work with the young people of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

On the 6th - 9th March, 2014, the Community Trainees from Shendam, had their second round of training. The SELL Foundation has six Community Teams in training in Nigeria, there are other satellite teams too in training within the country and also in Kumasi, Ghana. The Resource team normally travels to these communities to deliver the trainings, all preparation was in progress for the journey to be made to Shendam along the line, due to some logistics reason, the trainees from Shendam had travel down to the SELL Resource office in Bauchi, Nigeria to take the training. The unit of the SELL Programme that was shared during training was the Self Awareness unit. This unit of SELL assists participants to journey into their individual lives, a saying goes thus; an unexamined life is not worth living. This unit of SELL also assists people to share with one another, especially trusted people in their lives.  24 persons came for the training and it was indeed a very wonderful moment for the facilitators (Berly, Beji and Maria) to be with the trainees under the umbrella of SELL

One of the Authors of the SELL Programme, Rev. Fr. Leo Traynor who is now a Resource Person to the Foundation bid farewell to the entire SELL Family in Nigeria. Young people that have taken the SELL Programme have given testimonies of the good the it has and is still doing in their lives. The entire SELL family wishes Leo a peaceful and fulfilled Sabbatical period, also God’s blessings and guidance in all he hopes to do afterwards. We will miss you greatly.
