It has become an annual tradition in the Sharing Education and Learning for Life (SELL) Foundation to gather members of the Foundation to a Reflection/Meeting. This gathering usually comes up in April, the week after Easter. This year’s is going to be a bit different because the week after Easter this year was election week in Nigeria. With the elections come and gone, all is now set for the gathering which will take place at the Pastoral Centre in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. Date is 23rd to 26th April 2015.

On the weekend of 20th – 21st March, 2015, the Self Awareness unit of SELL was explored in Tafawa Balewa town of Bauchi State, Nigeria. The workshop was delivered by the SELL Team in Tafawa Balewa; Joseph and Mathew and mentored by John Jiderre of the SELL Resource Team. Participants were 16 in attendance, 9 females and 7 males.

On the 7th – 9th April, 2015, the SELL Programme was shared in Hausa Language at Ribah Town, Waja community, Kebbi State, Nigeria.  John Jiderre, the Hausa coordinator of SELL met with Mr. Clement Mallam an ally of SELL, who supports the Hausa component of SELL. The duo shared the Self Awareness and Peace Building Units of the SELL Programme. 57 people were in attendance, (14 women and 43 men)

Also from the Jalingo Team, two Facilitators from the Jalingo community team; Ezekiel Mareke and Cooker anchored the programme and were mentored by Victor Kamai the Jalingo team leader. The workshop took place on the 13th and 14th March, at Nicatava Abuja Phase 1 area of Jalingo town, Taraba State, Nigeria. 18 people were in attendance 7 of whom were ladies.

The Bauchi SELL Community too delivered a workshop last weekend at Guru Area of Bauchi town. The group they worked with was Youths Association, Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Guru.  7 members from that group were in attendance. According to the leader of the group, the low turnout was as a result of other commitments members of the group had. The leader said other members thought the SELL Programme was like one of those half baked programmes they get sometimes from other bodies. So now that they have a taste of it, they will organize for another day when they will have most of their members around.

Taiye Mofolorunsho of the Kabba Team gave a report of SELL Workshop that took place in Kabba town on the 17th and 18th April 2015. It was for Chairmen/persons and Secretaries of the Parish Councils in Lokoja Catholic Diocese. 3 women and 21 men were in attendance.

Our next blog will be the report of the AGR. See you again soon.
