I like to share with you some inspiring words that the young people of Bauchi shared with us about the Sharing Education and Learning for Life (SELL) Programme.

On the 6th of March 2013, we began the community training of facilitators for the SELL Foundation in Bauchi Area. In keeping to the participatory ethos of the programme, the training began with a process that invited the participants to share with us their experience of the SELL Programme, how it has impacted on their life and what they hope to take away with them from the training opportunity.

What follows here is what the young people shared with us. I hope it will be as uplifting for you as it is for me.

“How to handle life and coming to maturity……Now I like to know more about young people and how they can relate with their God”

  • Leonard is from Tunfure community in Gombe State, Nigeria.

“It has given me skills to deal with other young people who are in my care as a teacher”. “I want to broaden the way I think, to see what I can learn from my life experiences and how I can share this experience with others”

– Clifford Obi. Teacher in a Community School in Bauchi Metropolis.

“I attended the Justice Unit of the programme and learnt about Justice…..

Am here to learn the skills that will help me share with young people in my community the things I have learnt from this programme”.

 - Pedro, from Guru community near Bauchi Metropolis

“I like this programme because it meets young people were they are in life…...am here to hear from other young people their experiences of how they approach life, and the challenges they face

 – Gobet; a youth leader in Shadawanka Community of Bauchi metropolis

“I have learnt from this programme how leadership and Justice are related. I want to learn how to organize young people in the community for Peace”.

“Through my participation in the SELL Programme, I have learnt to build confidence in myself - - so I have come to this training to further acquire the skills to deal with life Challenges”.

“This SELL Programme, from the way I have experienced it, helps young people to share and encourage each other - -In this training,  I want to learn how to be a Peace-Builder in my Community”

 – Joseph; is a teacher in Gambar, a rural village in Bauchi.

“I have learnt to open my mind and heart to others and their wisdom….. Learn how to encourage other young people”
