MID YEAR REPORT (JANUARY- JUNE 2017)

Hello Friends!!!

We greet you from the SELL Resource Room, Ghana and we hope you are doing well. We are
delighted to give you update on our work for the first half of the year. We began the year with two major trainings in the Navrongo/Bolgatanga zone and the Tamale zone and like we shared with you, the aim of the training is to equip capable and interested young adults selected from communities in both zones with knowledge and skills that will enable them step down the programme in their local communities. In our monthly updates, we mentioned that the trainees in mid- February had begun work on the field and were doing very well.

In June, we mentored the last rounds of workshops held by trainees in the Navrongo/Bolgatanga zone in eight different communities. The communities included; Sirigu, Paga, Soe, Bongo, Chiana, Navrongo, Zuarungu and Zebilla. Sixteen (16) out of seventeen (17) community teams in the zone have successfully delivered the programme in their various areas.

I
n the Tamale zone, Nine (9) out of the Eleven (11) community teams have already delivered workshops in their communities. The two remaining teams, Salaga/Jamboi and Blessed Sacrament are scheduled to have their workshops from the 7 th – 9 th July, 2017.

In the first half of the year, the Resource Team and the volunteers (trainees) in both zones have altogether reached a total of six hundred and fifty-three (653) young adults, three hundred and two (302) females and three hundred and fifty-one males.

In addition to mentoring the volunteers on the field, the Resource Team was also at the University Of Development Studies (UDS), Navrongo Campus to continue with the cycle of workshops that began last year with the students. As part of our tertiary outreach, for the very first time, the Team was invited to the Bolgatanga Polytechnic to explore the Community Building Unit with the students. The students were very excited to have experienced the programme and proposed that it is made a cycle for them to explore the remaining units. 35 students from the Pax Romana group were present for the workshop.

As many young adults are experiencing and enjoying the programme in both Tamale and Navrongo/Bolgatanga Zones, the Team has received invitations from some communities in the
Wa zone as well. One of such invitations saw us at Gwollu in April and we were very happy to be of support to the youth there and we look forward to extending the programme into the zone. In the second half of the year, we will be at Hain and Wa all as part of our outreach into the Wa Area.

We are very happy to say that the first half of the year has been a success. For the remaining months in the year, we have a lot ahead of us. The second round of training for both Tamale and Navrongo Zones with follow up mentoring in the local communities, Life Choice Training for Teachers, mentoring training and many more. We pray for wisdom and strength from God to lead and direct us for all that is ahead of us. We appreciate our benefactors, volunteers, friends and all who work in diverse ways to support our work.

We close by wishing you every blessing for the months ahead and in all that you do.

Namaste!!!
