Ijebu-Ode is one of the popular towns in Ogun State, Nigeria. It is located at the South-West Geographic Region of Nigeria.

Over time, the SELL Foundation has engaged with the young people of that community delivering the SELL programme. The first invitation to work at Ijebu – Ode came five years ago, from the Saint Patrick’s Missionary Formation House. Since then, it became an annual event working with the students of the formation House and other young people from Ijebu town. This year’s programme was facilitated by Berlyn Boniface and Beji Jibe, Both members of the SELL Resource Team. Berlyn had these to say about her experience at the Formation House.

“It was another beautiful moment during SELL workshop at the Saint Patrick’s Formation House, Ijebu Ode. Participants were the students on Formation and some Youths from Lagos and Ijebu-Ode town, the training took place on 22nd to 28th June, 2015. The units of SELL program covered were Self Awareness, Leadership and Wisdom of Traditions.

The participants were intrigued by the content and quality of the programme, some of the participants said these about the workshop:

“The Self Awareness unit has helped me build my self esteem and celebrate myself” - Sanwoolu Anthonia

“The leadership unit has helped me to know that every person is a leader, whether defined or not. It also helped me discovered my leadership style and how to relate with people” – Ameh Anthonia

“Being able to realize that despite my belief and faith, I must agree and appreciate other faiths and beliefs also as important as mine and must be allowed to express their rights”. Peace Nwaegwe

The participants generally acknowledged that the SELL program has richly blessed them and have drawn an action plan on how they will share what they have learnt with family, friends and other groups in their community.

44 participants were in attendance, 14 Females and 30 Males”.

We wish to thank Berlyn and Beji for the work they did and for compiling this report for our blog page.

Still on workshops, the SELL Community Team from Gombe, North East, Nigeria had a workshop with the young people of St. Anthony’s Army Barracks Gombe. The Self Awareness workshop recorded 17 participants. Thanks to James Odiba, Clifford Obi and Felicia Ibrahim.

I will see you again soon, enjoy the pictures from Ijebu-Ode workshop.
